Rapid7 expands cloud security through new ARMO partnership

Rapid7 partners with ARMO to expand cloud and application runtime security as part of exposure management efforts.

Rapid7, a provider of threat detection and exposure management solutions, has announced a partnership with ARMO. This collaboration combines Rapid7's experience with ARMO's cloud-native security solutions, Kubescape. The initiative aims to enhance the Rapid7 Command platform by incorporating cloud and application runtime security. This move helps demonstrate Rapid7’s commitment to strengthening its role in the exposure management industry.

In modern cloud environments, cyber threats often exploit minor, interconnected vulnerabilities. By integrating continuous anomaly and real-time threat detection into active cloud assets and workflows, Rapid7’s new offerings seek to provide security, development, and IT teams with unified, threat-prioritised insights and responses. As Corey Thomas, CEO of Rapid7, articulates, extending their exposure management in collaboration with ARMO aims to offer organisations "clearer visibility, faster response, and better security outcomes."

This partnership introduces Cloud Application Detection & Response (CADR) capabilities to the Rapid7 Command platform. As a result, security teams now hope to effectively:

  • Detect: Identify real-time threats across various levels, from applications to clouds, effectively monitoring for API attacks, data exfiltration, and container breaches.
  • Correlate: Align runtime events with misconfigurations and vulnerabilities, offering an integrated view of risks and active threats for swift response measures.
  • Respond: Rapidly address and neutralise threats by isolating compromised processes, thereby halting any lateral threat movements.
  • Integrate: Seamlessly connect detection and response workflows across existing AWS, Azure, and other multicloud environments.

ARMO's co-founder and CEO, Shauli Rozen, acknowledges the philosophical alignment between the two companies, emphasising ARMO's focus on providing  runtime-powered cloud security.

By combining Rapid7’s exposure management tools with ARMO’s runtime capabilities, this collaboration aims to help organisations enhance cloud defence strategies against real-time threats.

Amidst escalating and complex cloud threats, Philip Bues, senior research manager at IDC Security and Trust, notes that the visibility provided by this partnership addresses a market need. He highlights how Rapid7’s expanded capabilities allow security teams to align exposure data with active threats, thereby improving remediation prioritisation based on operational risk.
