Cubbit, a geo-distributed cloud storage provider, has partnered with Swiss IT system integrator Ailanto to establish a Business Alliance Partnership, aiming to expand access to secure and cost-efficient cloud storage solutions for Swiss enterprises.

Under the partnership, Ailanto will introduce a customised cloud storage service by integrating DS3 Composer—Cubbit’s software-defined object storage—within data centres operated by its Swiss partners. The service will be fully hosted and managed in Switzerland following a federated model that ensures data sovereignty for local organisations.

Ailanto provides specialised enterprise services across infrastructure operations, security, and AI projects, supporting industries including banking, healthcare, utilities, and the public sector. The collaboration with Cubbit aims to address growing demand for localised, sovereign cloud solutions, allowing enterprises to maintain control over data while operating competitively in a market dominated by global hyperscale providers.

The partnership comes amid rising data volumes and stricter regulatory requirements related to security, cost efficiency, and data governance. Geopolitical factors and extraterritorial regulations, such as the US Cloud Act, further underline the importance of localised data control.

With DS3 Composer deployed on partner infrastructure, Ailanto aims to provide enterprises with flexible service tiers adapted to regulatory and sector-specific requirements within Swiss cantons. The solution aims to maintain data sovereignty by fragmenting information into encrypted pieces distributed across multiple locations, with the goal of ensuring resilience, S3-compatibility, and secure access.

The service launches with an initial capacity of 1 petabyte, with plans for expansion from mid-2026. Enterprises will have the option of fully-managed services or on-premises deployments, suitable for use cases including data backup, application and database storage, and low-latency storage for web hosting and e-commerce. Cubbit will support Ailanto through joint training, sales, technical assistance, and go-to-market activities, maintaining consistent SLA standards.

Sandro Pignataro of Ailanto emphasised the shared values driving the partnership, while Alessandro Cillario of Cubbit highlighted the focus on data sovereignty and operational flexibility for regulated sectors.
