Jacobs has introduced a Data Center Digital Twin solution, designed to assist developers in planning and optimising gigawatt-scale AI data centres within a virtual environment. The technology is intended to support faster deployment, improve energy performance, and enhance long-term operational efficiency.

The digital twin solution, based on the NVIDIA Omniverse DSX blueprint, provides a reference design for large-scale facilities. By integrating simulations of compute, power, and cooling systems, it creates a virtual representation of AI data centres aligned with operational conditions.

The solution combines components both inside and outside the data centre. From on-premises power configurations to cooling systems, it offers visibility from planning through virtual commissioning, operations, and maintenance.

The solution aims to address the growing demand for AI infrastructure by streamlining planning and design processes, enabling developers to achieve more efficient, secure, and resilient operations.

The initial module is designed for owners and operators to realise immediate benefits. Future enhancements are planned to support all phases of the asset lifecycle, from planning and design to commissioning and construction.

Jacobs intends to expand the solution to include smaller, 250-megawatt data centres, broadening its potential applications across the industry.

The Data Center Digital Twin aims to provide a framework for integrating digital tools into AI infrastructure planning and operations.
