WatchGuard Technologies has introduced an updated Endpoint Security Portfolio that changes the traditional licensing framework. The tiered service includes AI-powered security, vulnerability management, and URL filtering, features that are often offered as add-ons in other solutions.

The portfolio includes detection capabilities, automated response functions, and upgrade options designed to support MSP operations. It uses a single agent and a unified management console to support deployment and administration across organisations of different sizes.

MSPs can use pay-as-you-go licensing and integrated automation through the WatchGuard platform. Organisations can deliver managed services directly or use 24/7 Detection and Response through WatchGuard Core MDR.

Key features include:

  • Feature availability across tiers: Across Basic, Prime, 360, and Elite tiers, features include vulnerability insights, URL assessments, and device controls
  • Baseline protection: Ransomware protection, attack surface reduction, and device management are included in all plans
  • Optional add-ons: Services such as 24/7 MDR, Patch Management, and MFA can be added and are available for trial through the device cloud console
  • Management and deployment: A lightweight agent and centralised console support setup, management, and updates
  • Scalability for MSPs: Multi-tenant management and policy inheritance support standardised deployment as services expand
  • Tiered security options: Higher tiers include additional controls such as zero-trust application features and investigative tools

The portfolio is positioned in response to an increase in endpoint malware variants, as referenced in WatchGuard Threat Lab research. It uses automated and intelligence-driven security approaches and is intended for mid-sized organisations managing cybersecurity risks with limited resources and staffing.
