Russelectric introduces advanced transfer switch systems for power transition management

Russelectric’s transfer switches with bypass/isolation functionality are designed to support continuous power supply in data centre environments.

Russelectric, a Siemens Business, provides power control solutions including Russelectric automatic transfer switches. These switches with bypass/isolation functionality are designed for data centre applications and allow the transfer switch section to be isolated and de-energised for maintenance, testing, or repairs.

The Russelectric RTS-30 Series and RTS-03 Series Bypass/Isolation Transfer Switches provide power transfer functionality. In addition to performing automatic transfer switch operations, they include a bypass function that allows power to be routed to the load if automatic transfer operation is affected by an issue.

Russelectric offers a range of 480 VAC 30-cycle and 3-cycle UL-tested switches, listed and labelled under UL-1008. The design includes a full draw-out construction that enables removal of transfer switches without requiring electrical or mechanical disconnection.

The switches are available in both fail-safe and maintenance bypass configurations and are designed for durability and long service life with minimal maintenance requirements. The RTS-30 Series includes contact assemblies designed for 30-cycle operation, with arc- and track-resistant characteristics. The main contact pad design is intended to reduce overheating risk, while stationary alternatives are used to mitigate welding risks under high fault current conditions.

The RTS-03 Series with manual bypass/isolation includes ratings for 3-cycle closing and withstand performance at 480 VAC or lower. When used with current-limiting fuses, the switches achieve UL-listed closing and withstand ratings up to 200,000 amperes at 480 VAC.

Both RTS-03 and RTS-30 Series switches use machined solid copper contacts with tungsten arcing tips. The mechanical assemblies include linkages and connecting rods constructed with anodised solid-steel rods and ball joint fittings.
