Following its participation at Data Centre World, Jones Weatherproofing reported an increase in new enquiries, particularly relating to the weatherproofing of penetrations for data centres and other mission-critical structures.

Over the two-day event, the company engaged with a range of attendees, including architects and data centre contractors. Its exhibit included a full-size rig designed to demonstrate approaches to data centre penetration weatherproofing.

Jones Weatherproofing describes itself as a specialist in weatherproofing and states it has completed over 50 data centre projects in the UK. The company emphasises that effective weatherproofing is important for reducing the risk of water ingress, which can contribute to corrosion and potential impacts on digital infrastructure over time.

The exhibition provided opportunities for the company to connect with potential clients and highlight the role weatherproofing plays in data centre construction and operation. The company notes a preference for incorporating weatherproofing considerations during the design stage of projects so they are not overlooked as developments progress.

Jones Weatherproofing works with architects and mechanical and electrical (M&E) consulting engineers to incorporate weatherproofing requirements early in project design. It also works with main contractors and sub-contractors during later project stages, with the aim of maintaining weatherproofing performance, energy efficiency, and design alignment, including adjustments made during construction.

The company states that, instead of traditional plate and mastic methods, it provides customised weatherproofing solutions intended to accommodate penetrations of varying sizes and shapes without affecting the building envelope’s performance. It also offers colour-matching options for visual consistency and states that its systems are supported by a 25-year warranty.
