Cohesity reveals Maestro for AI-powered data security

Cohesity has introduced Cohesity Maestro, a new platform built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that enables AI-driven access to cyber resilience tools, telemetry, and data security capabilities across external AI systems and enterprise environments.

Cohesity has recently announced a new platform called Cohesity Maestro, which is positioned as an extension of its Cohesity Data Cloud. The platform is designed to expose cyber resilience operations, real-time telemetry, and the AI-based Cohesity Gaia capabilities through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Cohesity describes Maestro as introducing what it calls a “headless” architecture for cyber resilience. In this model, enterprises can initiate actions, access signals, and use data assets through agents without needing to interact directly with a Cohesity user interface. The approach is compared in concept to similar interface-agnostic enterprise software models used in platforms such as Salesforce.

Built on the open MCP standard, Cohesity Maestro is intended to integrate with existing AI platforms including Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT, and Google Gemini. Compared with proprietary integration approaches used by some vendors, the system is designed to work with multiple AI environments through standardised interfaces rather than custom connections.

Cohesity’s stated design approach is that systems should adapt to existing user workflows. In this context, the platform supports automated or agent-driven actions within customer environments, alongside existing tools such as Cohesity Copilot and RecoveryAgent. The assumption behind this direction is that organisations already using platforms like Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT may prefer extensions that fit into current workflows rather than adopting entirely new standalone systems.

Maestro is intended to allow embedding of AI-based workflows and dashboards into enterprise environments while maintaining security controls such as role-based access control and authentication. This is aimed at enabling integration into existing operational structures.

For IT and security teams, the platform is positioned to support tasks such as identifying real-time changes, assessing risks, and reviewing recovery status using AI interfaces, potentially reducing the need to switch between separate management consoles.

Cohesity Maestro provides access to several functional areas, including:
  • Cyber resilience orchestration: Execution and management of data protection activities such as restore operations, status checks, reporting, and threat investigation.
  • Telemetry and threat signals: Use of real-time security data as input into AI-based workflows.
  • Cohesity Gaia: Semantic search and enriched metadata capabilities, supported by AI infrastructure including systems from NVIDIA.
  • Cohesity AI agents: Operational tools such as Copilot and RecoveryAgent for automated actions and recovery workflows.
Cohesity also positions Maestro as a step toward more autonomous cyber resilience, where AI agents can identify issues, determine possible responses, and execute actions with reduced human intervention, depending on how organisations configure and govern those capabilities.
