LeaseWeb expands European footprint with new office in heart of London tech scene

LeaseWeb, a leading Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider, is expanding its footprint with the launch of a UK sales office. It follows the establishment of a new network Point of Presence (PoP) in London and improved connectivity with the London Internet Exchange (LINX).

The new office is based in the heart of London – just minutes from Tech City, the media and technology hub otherwise known as ‘Silicon Roundabout’. LeaseWeb has appointed Dale Weedman, a technology pioneer and co-founder of one of the UK’s first free Internet Service Providers, as part of its business development team, with more hires expected in the next quarter. Dale Weedman will be supported locally by an experienced team which includes Lawton Cheney, who has over five years of business development experience at LeaseWeb.

According to Emrah Aydin, Team Manager Business Development, the company’s expansion into the UK market is perfect timing: “The internet economy represents more than 8% of UK GDP and is growing faster than any other G-20 country,” he says. “The UK is a market leader when it comes to e-commerce, online gaming and mobile computing, all of which are key target segments for LeaseWeb. In order to respond more quickly to the growing demand by our customers in the UK market, we felt that it was imperative for us to establish a local sales team as soon as possible.”
