Daon achieves SO/IEC 42001 certification in AI governance

Daon secures AI management certification, aiming to strengthen trust in digital identity and fraud prevention solutions worldwide.

Daon has obtained ISO/IEC 42001 certification. This standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS) provides a framework for managing AI-related processes, including risk assessment, documentation, human oversight, and ongoing development of digital identity and fraud prevention systems.

The company is headquartered across multiple global locations, including the United States, Ireland, Serbia, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The certification places Daon among organisations that have adopted this standard for managing AI systems within digital identity services. ISO/IEC 42001 defines requirements for identifying, assessing, mitigating, monitoring, and documenting risks associated with AI systems.

The certification comes at a time when AI is increasingly used in areas such as fraud detection and customer onboarding. Financial institutions, governments, and businesses use AI-based tools to help identify risks such as deepfakes, synthetic identities, and impersonation attempts.

Within Daon’s platform, AI functions support biometric matching, liveness detection, fraud prevention, document verification, and risk analysis. These systems are supported by governance processes intended to manage model and system lifecycle activities, including risk assessment, documentation, and accountability.

In collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Daon technology is used in the IATA Timatic Doc Scan solution, which enables passengers to verify travel documents before arrival through airline applications or check-in systems.

The ISO/IEC 42001 certification adds to Daon’s existing compliance with standards including ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701, ISO/IEC 27017, and ISO/IEC 27018, which relate to information security, privacy, and cloud security.
