Europe’s largest data centre deal this year?

London data centre owner / operator DigiPlex is to provide services for Norwegian technology company Evry, after signing a 20 year term agreement. The 10 MW + contract, the largest of its kind in Europe this year will see DigiPlex house servers and IT equipment for Evry – Norway’s largest IT company (www.evry.com) at a brand new facility in Fetsund near Oslo. DigiPlex will invest €60m in the new build facility.

Byrne Murphy, Chairman of the DigiPlex Group, comments: “This agreement represents a significant milestone both for DigiPlex and for data centre operations in Europe as a whole. The new Oslo facility not only reaffirms DigiPlex as the premier data centre provider in the Nordic countries, but it will be equipped with the very latest DigiPlex technology, helping Evry to run its service uninterrupted by downtime, and as efficiently as possible.”

The new 4,200 square metre net white space high security facility will see Evry initially occupying two of four buildings on the site with an option to take additional capacity in the third and fourth buildings during the long term contract. The new facility will incorporate DigiPlex’s state of the art highly efficient Air to Air (A2A*) cooling technology operating at a PUE of 1.1. The data centre will also incorporate the Digiplex ‘De-Ox’ fire property fire proofing system and provide 10 MW + of power for Evry.

Murphy continues: “DigiPlex is pleased to be adding wholesale services to its existing retail co-location business which already features 100 of the most prominent private sector companies and public agencies in the Nordic marketplace. The long term nature of the contract with Evry illustrates the commitment that both parties have made to this partnership, and we look forward to providing our quality, uninterrupted service to this customer over the length of the contract.”

Terje Mios, CEO of Evry, added: “We are very pleased that DigiPlex is able to meet our long term data centre requirements. It was key for us that the facility we chose could strike the balance between security, reliability, energy efficiency and location. DigiPlex was able to meet all of these requirements. We look forward to creating a successful partnership with them”.

The new Fetsund facilities will be DigiPlex’s third and fourth data centres in the greater Oslo area. Site civil works at Fetsund began earlier this month. The first phase of the data centre operations will go live in Q3 2014. DigiPlex also operates in Sweden and Finland and in the UK at its Breakspear Park data centre in North London.
