SQS launches testing-as-a-service

Strategic UK partnership will improve the quality of web and mobile applications and end user experience through SQS’ on-demand cloud testing service.

SQS, the world's largest specialist in software quality, has announced a strategic partnership with SOASTA, the leader in cloud and mobile testing. The agreement will see SQS offering on-demand testing services using SOASTA’s automated cloud-based testing solutions for web and mobile applications - TouchTest and CloudTest. Working with SOASTA enables SQS to broaden its reach in the UK and globally through the new rapid-response, on-demand testing service.

SQS has long provided performance, functional and mobile testing services to its clients, and now combined with SOASTA’s industry-leading testing platforms, SQS will be able to deliver these services rapidly and at a very large scale. CloudTest, an automated cloud-based testing platform, and TouchTest, a revolutionary functional test automation solution for multi-touch, gesture-based applications, will be offered as cloud-based testing technologies as part of SQS’ on-demand testing services.

Rob McConnell, Regional Director for SQS in Northern Ireland, sees the partnership as an enabler for delivering testing services more quickly and within new commercial models: “Traditionally, organisations have relied on predominantly manual techniques for testing mobile apps; SOASTA’s cloud-based platform is an industry leader and has been specifically designed for smarter test automation and quicker and easier performance testing of web and mobile apps. This enables SQS to offer pay-as-you-go pricing for testing infrastructure, provide leading edge diagnostics using a collaborative test analysis platform, and speed up the testing process.”

SQS on-demand testing services also include: security testing, performance testing and quality assurance through the entire software development lifecycle.

Peter Shieber, Head of UK Performance & Technical Testing at SQS, says: “Our on-demand testing services are well suited to testing at very large scale. For example, testing online gaming systems in readiness for sporting events such as Wimbledon requires simulating tens or hundreds of thousands of bets placed via content-rich mobile apps, web apps and other channels – performing such a test via traditional means is difficult and costly. With SOASTA’s leadership through CloudTest and TouchTest products, SQS consultants can economically apply a realistic, multi-channel load to the system under test.”

Chris Addis, Vice President and Managing Director of SOASTA Europe, comments: “With SQS and SOASTA’s dedication to quality, this partnership was a natural fit and we are excited to get started. SQS’ consultancy expertise combined with SOASTA’s leadership in mobile and cloud testing technology offers a winning combination for organisations seeking a scalable, cost-effective and flexible testing solution, while looking to provide the best possible user experience.”
