IT software and services company Polymorph has won a three-year contract to manage outsourced IT functions for Montgomery Furnishings, the newco arising from the administration of Montgomery Tomlinson. Polymorph is responsible for running an IT service desk for all Montgomery Furnishings staff and managing the company’s websites.

Polymorph had originally won the contract with Montgomery Tomlinson – a family-owned and run company with 50 years’ experience in the custom-made curtains and soft furnishings business – in a competitive tender, and was only two months into the working relationship when Montgomery Tomlinson entered administration.

When Amin Amiri of investment house a2e Venture Catalysts stepped in to acquire the assets and business in August, Polymorph was invited to manage the IT function for the resultant newco, Montgomery Furnishings.

Polymorph is providing a comprehensive IT service desk and website management, as well as working with Montgomery Furnishings on new technology projects to improve customer experience in its department store concessions, explained Managing Director Steve Harris:
“We are providing outsourced IT support for the desktops, servers, and network across Montgomery Furnishings’ head office and concession stores around the UK. We also provide procurement, asset management, and third party contract management support. It really is the full package – right up to developing bespoke software for the business and reporting and managing any IT risks and threats that it faces,” he said.

Central to Polymorph’s service offering is the notion of enabling the staff at Montgomery Furnishings to focus on sustaining and growing a successful business:
“Particularly in what are still extremely challenging economic circumstances, independent small and medium-sized businesses need to eke out every competitive advantage they can – and this means not wasting valuable time and resources on business functions, such as IT, that are not in-house specialisms. Outsourcing IT ensures you are free to focus on building your business, safe in the knowledge that you have expert external support on hand to help when needed,” Harris continued.

“Polymorph is managing the Montgomery Furnishings websites, with responsibility for data transfer for stock feeds, sales, and product availability. We are also working on a number of technology projects, including developing a touch screen solution to be introduced to its Debenhams concessions to improve customer experience.”

Amin Amiri, owner of Montogomery Furnishings, added: “It is always unfortunate when a business that has maintained such close ties to its traditional local roots fails, with the impact that this has on the local economy and the lives of employees and local people. But, following the rescue and the creation of the newco, it is great to have another local company on board to provide the IT services that will help Montgomery Furnishing grow into a real success story.”
