Virtustream collaborates with Intel

Businesses can analyse large data sets in real-time with rapid visualisation and predictive analytics using cloud flexibility and cost-efficiency.

Virtustream says that it is collaborating with Intel to deliver the HANA-Hadoop Managed Service for big data analytics. By using the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop (IDH) in conjunction with Virtustream’s xStream cloud management software and Virtustream’s HANA Managed Service, the solution will enable customers to analyse large data sets in the cloud, and at high speed.

“We are pleased to be collaborating with Virtustream on providing cloud based, enterprise class data management solutions with the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop together with SAP HANA,” said Boyd Davis, vice president and general manager of the Datacentre Software Division at Intel. “Users will be able to run predictive analytics and generate real-time analytics on large data sets, including business data, social media and point of sale data, in the cloud – while ensuring the environment is secure, compliant, efficient and flexible.”

As an in-memory database, SAP HANA allows highly accelerated reporting and analytics, while Hadoop enables users to process large sets of unstructured data. Combining both environments with Virtustream’s SAP HANA-certified cloud enables customers to gain agility, scalability and a consumption-based pricing model. Customers can setup quickly, with no CapEx requirement and access to HANA and Hadoop database engineers, and deploy the solution in a matter of weeks rather than months.

Virtustream’s portfolio also includes expertise in migrating the entire portfolio of SAP applications to the cloud. In May, the company launched their SAP HANA Managed Service and successfully deployed the first SAP ECC-on-HANA in production in the cloud.

“Both HANA and Hadoop offer extremely valuable toolsets for enterprises, and Virtustream’s xStream cloud software is able to further enhance the technologies by providing a secure environment for the solutions to run at a significantly faster rate,” said Michael Hoch, senior vice president of Cloud Advisory Services at Virtustream. “Collaborating with Intel to develop the HANA-Hadoop solution expands our capabilities in the big data market, as we continue to provide enterprises with the mission-critical and production solutions they need to meet today’s business demands.”
