Custom Connect appoints Rutger Bevaart as CTO

Custom Connect, a global managed service provider of carrier neutral and microwave connectivity services, has announced the appointment of its new Chief Technology Officer and Lead Architect, Rutger Bevaart. Alongside the hire, Bevaart’s existing company Xconnect24 (the AS260 operator) will also be incorporated into Custom Connect’s existing portfolio.

Bevaart’s expertise in the design and implementation of carrier-grade networks for Internet Service Providers and enterprises makes him the perfect choice to lead Custom Connect’s expanding global technical team.

Olav van Doorn, Co-Founder of Custom Connect, said, “We have been working with Rutger for a number of years and, as an external consultant, he has helped design and implement some of the most innovative connectivity solutions our customers have ever seen, regardless of the network complexity involved. We are delighted he will be applying his expertise and creativity to help drive Custom Connect’s growth.”

Following an early career forged in microelectronics, Bevaart turned to the world of data communication and telecommunications where he worked, amongst others, at KPN Research, KPNQwest and CMG as a specialist network designer, engineer, architect and product manager.

Following that he set up his own consultancy in 2005 to help global enterprises solve their global connectivity challenges, including work for KPN Mobile, Tele2, Achmea, Heineken and T-Mobile. He has also founded various internet, hosting and cloud services companies.

His most recent initiative, Xconnect24, supplies low-latency, high-bandwidth IP connectivity to ISPs, enterprises, media organisations and cloud providers, making it the perfect company to complement Custom Connect’s operations.

“Custom Connect is a true world leader in enterprise grade connectivity for medium and large enterprises. Its international focus, with branches in London and soon, Dubai, ensures we will make great strides in the development of high performance connectivity. I am very excited to be bringing my expertise in-house to help Custom Connect continue its impressive growth,” concluded Bevaart.
