entrustIT certifies against the CIF Code of Practice

APM Group, the Cloud Industry Forum’s (CIF) independent certification partner has announced that entrustIT, a provider of hosted desktops & other cloud services, has certified against the CIF Code of Practice, demonstrating its commitment to transparency, accountability and capability in the provision of cloud services.

entrustIT was established in 2006 to address the IT issues of small and medium enterprise businesses, with the aim of simplifying their IT and technology. It provides applications and IT facilities to a range of public and private sector organisations though a combination of cloud-based products and services, coupled with on-premise capabilities.

Jeff Dodd, entrustIT’s Managing Director, said: “entrustIT is growing up and we are investing to standardise our processes and practices. It’s important to us that we can communicate to the market that we are a responsible cloud provider, and that customers can expect to receive a reliable, secure and predictable experience with us. The Code of Practice is very much part of this. Certification stands as proof that we aren’t a ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ CSP, and that we can be a partner for the long term. For customers and prospects, this reassurance is invaluable.”

“Equally useful to us was the process of certifying, which offered us the opportunity to examine every aspect of the business to look at areas which could be improved from business ethics to our environmental impact. Having done so, we can confidently say that we are wholly aligned with cloud industry standards of best practice,” he continued.

The Code of Practice is a credible, certifiable tool that allows Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to demonstrate that they meet specified requirements of transparency, accountability and capability, as prescribed by CIF. It aims to standardise enterprises offering cloud services to provide clarity, transparency and assurance to end users seeking to migrate to the cloud.

Richard Pharro, CEO of APM Group, concluded: “The CIF Code of Practice allows businesses such as entrustIT, to publicly demonstrate that they are committed to the ethics, practices and processes required by the cloud industry. Customers need to be able to trust that their services they are safe and that their chosen CSP is a responsible one, which is why the Code of Practice is so important to the industry.”
