Customers can now run Informatica products on AWS with their new or existing on-premises licenses, while also taking advantage of Informatica’s award-winning support services to ensure their data integration success in the AWS Cloud.
The ability to run PowerCenter, Big Data Edition, B2B Data Exchange and Data Quality on AWS opens the door to increased deployment flexibility, business agility and operational cost savings. With AWS, organisations can quickly start using or expanding their Informatica-based solutions without waiting for servers to be ordered and deployed. They can choose to run their production data integration, data transformation, data quality and data exchange systems on Hadoop or traditional infrastructure systems on AWS.
Amit Walia, senior vice president and general manager, Data Integration and Security, Informatica, said, “Informatica is extending its cloud strategy to include making its industry-leading, on-premises products available on AWS’s industry-leading infrastructure. Cloud-first and hybrid IT organisations, as well as line-of-business groups, can now move forward with Informatica PowerCenter, Big Data Edition, B2B Data Exchange and Data Quality as integral parts of their hosted great data pipelines with complete confidence that Informatica is solidly behind them.”
Rich Belanger, ProQuest CIO, said, “The ability to run Informatica in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) enables ProQuest to leverage best practices and new technologies in various areas of our business. It gives us the flexibility to easily add additional capacity, and we can test new configurations without the commitment of hardware purchases.”
Other advantages of Informatica implementations hosted on AWS include AWS’s economical pay-for-use pricing, high reliability compute environment and the ability to leverage AWS data and storage services. These services include high-performance connectivity to Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) for cost-effective storage, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) and Amazon Redshift, a fast, fully managed, petabyte-scale data warehouse solution that makes it simple and cost-effective to efficiently analyse all data using existing business intelligence tools.
“Informatica’s innovative data integration and management solutions, hosted on AWS, enable enterprises to quickly and easily take advantage of highly scalable, secure and low-cost AWS services, including Amazon Redshift, Amazon RDS, and Amazon S3,” said Terry Wise, vice president of Worldwide Partner Ecosystem, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “With these new offerings from Informatica, our joint customers have even more options to leverage the AWS Cloud.”
Cloud or on-premises: no extra cost, no trade-off
Informatica PowerCenter, Big Data Edition, B2B Data Exchange and Data Quality now run on AWS, just as if they were deployed on traditional on-premises servers. Regardless of whether they are deployed in the cloud or on-premises, customers receive:
• Full functionality to enable organisations to create and manage rich, great data pipelines to feed analytics and operational systems
• Hundreds of out-of-the-box data source connectors and pre-built data parsers are identical
• They can be used for the same purposes, including proof-of-concept, development and/or full production deployment
• They maintain the same high-productivity, codeless visual development environment
• They are fully supported by Informatica Professional Services and Informatica Global Customer Support
• No special license is required
Supported operating systems are also identical. Informatica PowerCenter, B2B Data Exchange and Data Quality support the same operating systems on Amazon EC2 as they do when running on-premises, while Informatica BDE runs on supported versions of Cloudera and Hortonworks Hadoop distributions on Amazon EC2.
