German enterprises investing in cloud computing

A survey from market researcher Kable shows that 48% of German enterprises are planning to increase their ICT budget this year, compared to 31% in 2014, presenting ample opportunity for investments in cloud computing services.

According to the survey, German enterprises look towards investing in leading ICT segments to boost innovation and efficiency and to support their industrial growth. Almost half (47%) of respondents are planning to increase their overall ICT budgets in 2015, compared to 31% in the previous year, indicating a 16% increase in respondents with a positive outlook. Moreover, the percentage of respondents planning to reduce their ICT budgets in 2015 has declined by 10% compared to 2014.

Cloud computing models such as SaaS, IaaS and PaaS on the rise

In addition to investments in core ICT solutions, German enterprises are increasingly adopting technologies such as enterprise applications, business intelligence and security products. Similarly, the growing technological needs of enterprises are calling for investments in cloud computing services that can match the complex requirements of their current business environment. Apart from software as a service (SaaS), enterprises in Germany are also keen to invest in other cloud computing models including infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS). Kable estimates that in Germany, the IaaS market will increase from US$1.2 billion in 2015 to US$5 billion in 2019, growing at a CAGR of 42.4%.
