Los Angeles-based cloud provider, Xfernet, has joined the OnApp Federation to make clouds across the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific available to its customers for application and content deployment, as a seamless part of its local public cloud.
As a member of the OnApp Federation, the world's largest public cloud, Xfernet can now give its enterprise clients on-demand access to more than 170 compute cloud and CDN locations, spanning 113 cities in 43 countries. This enables Xfernet to meet the growing need enterprise cloud users have for cloud hosting services that help them reach new markets, improve performance for geographically distributed users, and manage data sovereignty and compliance by controlling exactly where applications and content are hosted.
"Using OnApp we've built up a customer base of U.S. enterprises who are looking for the benefits of cloud application hosting, but with the added advantage of managed services, enterprise-grade support and private cloud options too," said Aaron Faby, CEO of Xfernet. "The OnApp Federation lets us take this to the next level, and give our customers access to cloud locations all over the world. That's especially important for clients whose businesses depend on 100% reliability and scalability, such as our customers in application development, ecommerce and gaming. For us, it means we can scale out our cloud without CAPEX on new infrastructure, and win projects we would otherwise not have the global reach to handle."
The OnApp Federation is a global network of clouds connected to a wholesale marketplace, where cloud providers can buy infrastructure, to resell to their clients on a pay-per-use basis; and sell infrastructure, in order to monetize their own local cloud capacity. Xfernet will also use OnApp to make its local cloud available through the OnApp Federation marketplace, giving other providers on-demand access to a high-performance cloud in downtown L.A.
"It's awesome to see high quality cloud providers like Xfernet joining the OnApp Federation," said Ditlev Bredahl, CEO of OnApp. "If you're an enterprise that needs quality infrastructure on a global basis, with a managed service package and enterprise-grade SLA, you just can't get that from generic public cloud providers like AWS. You can get that from a specialist local provider, like Xfernet, and now - with the OnApp Federation - they can give you high performance application hosting on any mix of global locations. When you can go to an OnApp cloud provider like Xfernet, and get as much global scale and reach as you need, with a professional support package, why would you go to anyone else?"
Using the OnApp Federation, Xfernet plans to expand its targets to a broader global customer base with its enhanced cloud services, reaching beyond its core market in the West Coast of the US.
