Enterprises continue to move workloads to the cloud for its flexibility, but it also expands the network perimeter and attack surface. A new Ixia survey of 350 IT professionals responsible for cloud deployments and management showed how concerned enterprises are about security in their public and private clouds:
· Over 90% are concerned about maintaining data and application security in their public clouds
· 60% said public clouds make it more difficult to get visibility into data traffic
· 88% had experienced a business related issue from a lack of visibility into public cloud traffic
· 87% suffered downtime of an hour or more during their last network outage, costing thousands of dollars per minute
The survey also found that the top three challenges enterprises experience due to lack of visibility into their public cloud data include: troubleshooting application performance issues, troubleshooting network performance issues and application outages, and rapid response resolving security alerts, and network outages.
