Capita’s technology to help Bolton at Home boost operational efficiency

Capita plc (Capita) has secured a £5.9m four-year contract with Bolton at Home, with the optional extension of up to four years. The contract will deliver IT services to support the Greater Manchester housing association in providing best-in-class service to its customers.

The contract includes migrating the current system to a hybrid cloud model using a combination of Microsoft Azure and Capita’s Virtual Private Cloud.

Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud-based subscription to its Office programs, will be rolled out to over 1,100 users across four sites. There will be upgrades to both the ‘local area network’ and the ‘wider area network’ that links different sites together.

The new system will also include a personalised tool for employees to open and resolve service desk tickets and provide data-rich reports into all aspects of services. This will support a level of self-service that will help reduce operational time and cost.

Additionally, Capita will implement a new managed print service that will improve information security and reduce ‘per page’ costs.

The combination of new ‘optimised’ printers and ecologically efficient ‘eco-print’ toners will help Bolton at Home’s environmental footprint by reducing the amount of paper waste created as a result of the new printing process.

Capita will also provide a dedicated telephony platform, hosted in Capita’s private virtual cloud, to improve control and efficiency.

Improved connectivity and new IT services will enable a more mobile and collaborative workforce that will enable Bolton at Home to take advantage of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, data analytics and machine learning.

Mark Cook, executive officer of Capita’s Technology Solutions division, said: “Delivering innovative solutions that create better outcomes for communities is at the heart of what we do. This contract is an example of how we take the needs of Bolton at Home and offer solutions that will not just fulfil those needs but ensure they are ready for future changes.”

Steve Roden, Head of IT, Bolton at Home, said: “Capita was able to appreciate our vision for the future and set out a strategy to take us from where we are to where we want to be. We hope this partnership will have a positive impact on our workforce, enabling day-to-day tasks to be carried out faster, more easily and more efficiently, and support the wider objectives of our business.”
