Civo, the first pure play cloud native service provider powered only by Kubernetes, has announced general availability of its production-ready managed Kubernetes platform. At launch, it is the fastest managed Kubernetes provider in the world, with a fully usable cluster deploying in under 90 seconds. The platform aims to streamline how companies host core applications, reducing the cost and complexity of managing Kubernetes to ensure organisations can focus more of their energy on development – and less on infrastructure.

This general release comes after a successful launch to early adopters on 4 May at Kubecon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2021. The company has witnessed strong demand for Civo Kubernetes over the last few months, with registered early access users from over 130 countries worldwide.

The company has ambitious plans to scale up the ways it can help support both start-ups and established tech companies on their cloud-native journey. In September, Civo announced that Softbank-backed THG Ingenuity has invested £1.4 million in the business. As part of the investment, THG Ingenuity becomes Civo’s exclusive datacentre hosting & Enterprise sales partner. This will help accelerate Civo’s international expansion, with a new region just launched in Germany adding to an existing presence in the US & UK – and another set to go-live in Asia before the end of 2021.

Putting developers first

Throughout Civo’s two year journey to reach this point, the company has worked closely with the developer community to deliver an experience that works for them. Over 4,000 developers have been using Civo Kubernetes during the early access phase, which recently became a certified Kubernetes hosted provider by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). A community of beta testers have helped shape Civo’s platform throughout its development. Users provided constant feedback to Civo either through suggested features sent via its dashboard, attending regular virtual meet-ups or via a dedicated community Slack Channel. All this input has been used to refine the platform to ensure applications can be hosted with ease, with regular releases of new tools and features to continue to simplify the user experience.

Mark Boost, CEO and co-founder of Civo, said: “We have been delighted by the enthusiastic response for our platform from our early adopters over the past five months. Civo would be nothing without our brilliant user community, and we are pleased now to open up our industry-leading, Kubernetes-powered cloud native services to everyone. For too long the industry has accepted a status quo from the major cloud providers that consistently overcomplicates and overcharges.

“Our mission at Civo is to simplify Kubernetes for developers of all levels. Our production-ready managed Kubernetes platform cuts down on the complexity and provides users with  fast launch times, and transparent billing – everything they need to accelerate development to benefit the rest of the business. We are determined to provide the very best developer experience around, helping them to get going quickly and not spend time and effort managing infrastructure.

“We are always looking for exciting new ways to give back to the developer community. It was fantastic to see the enthusiastic reception for our free Kubernetes skills programme, Civo Academy, and there is more to come including ambitious new plans to build out our software marketplace for users.”
