Embracing EU Directive RED II: ONEKEY's advanced compliance platform

ONEKEY unveils integrated RED II testing, revolutionizing compliance for radio module manufacturers.

Starting from August of this year, digital products equipped with radio modules sold in Europe will need to comply with the updated EU Directive RED II (Radio Equipment Directive) EN 18031. In anticipation, ONEKEY, a Düsseldorf-based cybersecurity firm, has introduced automated testing for this directive within its robust cybersecurity platform.

According to Jan Wendenburg, CEO of ONEKEY, “We are expanding the capabilities of our automated platform to include this key EU directive... This underlines our commitment to providing customers with comprehensive and up-to-date compliance support." By aligning with RED II, the ONEKEY platform aims to provide comprehensive compliance support, targeting manufacturers and OEMs of smart devices. The existing Compliance Wizard already covers broader standards such as the Cyber Resilience Act, ISO 303645, and others—a testament to its evolving protection capabilities.

The platform facilitates fully automated technical software analysis, efficiently identifying both vulnerabilities and compliance gaps. Structured documentation is also provided via an decision tree, ensuring swift identification and correction of deviations from RED II standards.

One of the standout features is the pre-filled automated answers, enhancing the decision-making process for non-compliant residue areas, while maintaining flexibility through manual review options. Wendenburg further underscores the added value, emphasizing ONEKEY’s aim to cultivate an innovation leadership approach.

The Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU, pivotal for systems with radio connectivity, ensures devices within the EU market abide by stringent requirements for robustness, cybersecurity, and electromagnetic compatibility. As more products, from industrial machines to autonomous machinery, are integrated with internet-connected radio modules, these regulations are seen as crucial in safeguarding industrial operations from potential risks
