Vertiv invests in AI-driven monitoring and control for power and cooling systems with Waylay acquisition

Vertiv Holdings Co strengthens digital infrastructure through strategic acquisition of Waylay NV, advancing AI-driven solutions for data centres.

Vertiv Holdings Co, recognised globally for its expertise in critical digital infrastructure, has broadened its technological suite by acquiring Waylay NV, a Belgian frontrunner in hyperautomation and generative AI platforms. This acquisition is pivotal in Vertiv's strategy to deepen its investment in AI-driven monitoring and control technologies specifically tailored for power and cooling systems.

The acquisition comes at a time when AI applications are skyrocketing, driving an insatiable demand for sophisticated, adaptive infrastructure in data centres. Intelligent digital services are crucial for managing power and cooling systems that support high-density computing environments, essential for powering generative AI. These AI-driven digital services enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and dynamic optimisation of power and thermal performance.

“With the addition of Waylay’s technology and software-focused team, Vertiv will accelerate its vision of intelligent infrastructure - data-driven, proactive, and optimised for the world’s most demanding environments,” said Vertiv’s CEO, Giordano Albertazzi. “We are excited about the operational efficiencies and the resilience that Vertiv’s further augmented predictive capabilities can provide for our customers.”

Established in 2014, Waylay brings to the table an advanced hyperautomation software platform, facilitating workflow-based automation and seamless integration across various connected assets, enterprise applications, and cloud services. The platform's standout features include rapid data analytics and orchestration scenarios, slashing integration costs and product deployment times. Its ability to decipher real-time machine data, detect operational patterns, and suggest preemptive actions has proved invaluable in reducing downtime and boosting system performance.
