Mike Robinson takes the helm at Mitel

Mitel appoints Mike Robinson as CEO to lead the next phase of growth after successful restructuring.

Mitel, a global leader in business communications, has announced the appointment of Mike Robinson as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the tenure of Tarun Loomba. This strategic change introduces an experienced leader, adept at guiding companies through post-restructuring phases, ensuring foundational stability and growth.

With over three decades in telecom, infrastructure, and enterprise services, Robinson’s extensive leadership experience spans roles as CEO, CFO, and board director across both public and private companies on a worldwide scale. His expertise in mergers, acquisitions, and large-scale transformations positions him uniquely to steer Mitel into its next chapter.

Having most recently served as President and CEO of Sungard Availability Solutions, Robinson also chairs Everstream Solutions, a fibre-based telecommunications carrier. His arrival at Mitel is seen as a catalyst for continued growth, maintaining the steady course set by Loomba, while emphasising long-term value for customers and stakeholders alike.

Robinson expressed his commitment to enhancing Mitel’s trajectory, stating his intention to prioritise engagement with employees, customers, and partners to ensure that the company’s strategy remains aligned with its value proposition. He highlighted Mitel’s loyal customer base and pledged to reciprocate that loyalty through unwavering value, reliability, and innovation.

Tarun Loomba, who began as Chief Product Officer in 2020 before becoming CEO in 2021, was instrumental in positioning Mitel as a global market leader with over 70 million seats across 100 countries. Under his leadership, the company tackled significant challenges, strengthening its foundation through strategic acquisitions and financial restructuring.

Loomba reflected on the achievements during his tenure. "I'm proud of what we've accomplished together," he said, "from navigating the pandemic to acquiring Unify to completing a successful restructuring, all of which strengthened Mitel's foundation as a leading global communications vendor."

As businesses continue prioritising hybrid communications, with 92% of organisations recognising its importance, Mitel remains committed to delivering secure, flexible solutions tailored to meet the demands of enterprises globally.
