New partnership brings academic courses into Skillsoft platform

Skillsoft partners with edX to enrich its platform with university courses, bridging skills gaps in the evolving workforce.

Skillsoft, an AI-native skills management platform, has announced a partnership with edX, an online education provider. This collaboration will see edX’s comprehensive course offerings, including executive education from partner universities, integrated into the Skillsoft Percipio Platform.

This initiative seeks to enrich the Skillsoft platform by offering a depth of academic and professional learning tailored to meet evolving workforce needs. The union of education from trusted universities with enterprise skills priorities allows organisations to better align learning investments with the capabilities required in a rapidly changing AI-driven work environment.

The modern workplace is in flux, pressuring organisations worldwide to recognise current skill sets and prepare for future demands. Many leaders are hampered by insufficient insights into workforce capabilities and fragmented learning. According to Skillsoft’s 2025 Global Skills Intelligence Survey, only a small percentage of HR and learning leaders feel confident about their workforce’s readiness to meet future business goals.

The partnership with edX brings its courses into the Skillsoft platform, supporting continuous skill development within organisations and helping link learning to workforce planning and business objectives.

Ron Hovsepian, Chief Executive Officer of Skillsoft, remarked that the efficacy of future workplaces hinges on aligning skills with daily operations. By integrating edX's refined academic programmes into Skillsoft, customers can leverage high-quality learning resources, fostering a skills ecosystem that promotes long-term workforce readiness.

Similarly, Matthew Glitzer, Chief Revenue Officer at Skillsoft, highlighted the value of linking learning with skills application across organisations. edX’s integration supports a continuous skills journey, strengthening adoption and retention of learning aligned with business priorities.

Leading institutions, such as the University of Oxford and Harvard University, collaborate with 2U to provide programmes for edX. These programmes, encompassing executive education and professional certificates, will further enhance Skillsoft’s offerings in AI, cybersecurity, and business leadership.

Andy Morgan, 2U's Chief Partnerships Officer, noted the partnership’s potential to deliver substantial organisational impacts through learning. By joining forces with Skillsoft, edX is poised to broaden access to established educational programmes via Skillsoft's platform.

Overall, the partnership integrates academic programmes with enterprise skills management, bridging learning gaps and driving strategic workforce development.
