OVHcloud has launched its latest offering: the Backup Agent. This new managed backup solution is designed specifically for Bare Metal customers, developed in collaboration with Veeam, a provider of data resilience technology.

The OVHcloud Backup Agent is powered by Veeam technology, offering a free license to its users. Accessible through the OVHcloud control panel or via their API, the setup process is designed to be completed in under ten minutes. Stored data resides in a location geographically separated from the client’s physical server, ensuring high-level data security.

For additional security, backups are encrypted and rendered immutable, leveraging OVHcloud’s Object Storage solution. These features are backed by a 99.9% SLA, helping demonstrate its reliability and trustworthiness.

“At OVHcloud, security is not an option; it is the foundation of every service,” articulated Yaniv Fdida, Chief Product and Technology Officer at OVHcloud, emphasising their commitment to data security and confidentiality.

Christophe Fontaine, Senior Regional Technical Sales Director for Southern EMEA and Africa at Veeam, expressed enthusiasm about furthering their partnership with OVHcloud. He highlighted Veeam’s technology in data protection, highlighting data resiliency for Bare Metal users.

The Backup Agent's pricing begins at 0.007 Euros per Gigabyte (excluding VAT) without any additional licensing costs. Future enhancements will include agentic consumption through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), simplifying access to invoicing and usage data, specifically for AI agents.

Currently available across all OVHcloud data centres in Europe, the Backup Agent will soon be accessible to APAC and Canadian customers by the end of the first quarter this year. OVHcloud’s Backup Agent adds a managed backup option aimed at improving data protection and resilience for customers globally.
