Barclays selects Microsoft Security Solutions to expand security strategy

LONDON Leader in global finance will work with Microsoft to help strengthen security strategy, supporting Barclays to prepare for the opportunities and risks presented by AI.

Barclays is working with Microsoft to drive its security strategy forwards and strengthen trust in its digital capabilities, through Microsoft Security Solutions.

Emerging AI technology presents new opportunities as well as risks. Under this new collaboration, Barclays is expanding and automating its security detection and using telemetry opportunities to help keep its colleagues, customers, and clients safe, secure and its services always on.

The agreement marks a continuation of Barclays’ digital transformation journey, after the bank adopted Microsoft Teams as its preferred collaboration platform in 2022.

Oliver Newbury, Group Chief Information Security Officer, Barclays, says: “Customer expectations continue to rise as digital leaders pursue higher standards of technology performance to differentiate – setting a higher bar for digital trust.

“Working with Microsoft will support us to better detect, investigate, respond, and protect against security threats.”

Theo Michalopoulos, General Manager, Financial Services, Microsoft UK, says: “We are witnessing a rise in increasingly sophisticated and expansive cybersecurity attacks.

“It’s imperative that organisations meet this challenge head on and the adoption of powerful AI, machine learning and defence-in-depth capabilities will better enable firms from all industries to detect threats and collaborate safely, while meeting emerging regulatory requirements in this new era of AI.”
