NETSCOUT unveils KlearSight Sensor for enhanced Kubernetes observability

NETSCOUT introduces the Omnis® KlearSight Sensor to improve observability within complex cloud environments, catering to the growing demands of Kubernetes deployments.

NETSCOUT® SYSTEMS, INC., a leading provider of observability solutions, has launched an innovation tailored to meet the increasing requirements for comprehensive observability in complex cloud environments. As large, multi-cluster Kubernetes deployments grow, organisations grapple with visibility challenges and blind spots within their systems.

The Omnis® KlearSight Sensor for Kubernetes (KlearSight) offers deep, actionable, and real-time insights into system performance, health, and cost drivers. Specifically designed to support dynamic architectures, KlearSight excels in monitoring these environments due to its ability to capture packets directly from the Linux kernel's networking stack post-decryption. By converting this into standard IT traffic, organisations gain visibility into application-layer communications without needing encryption keys.

"Microservices running on a Kubernetes cluster generate multiple metrics, events, logs, and traces to provide some visibility across complex multicloud environments," explained Jim Frey, principal analyst at Omdia, though identifying incident root causes can resemble "searching for needles across multiple haystacks." He emphasised the value of packet-level visibility, especially for multicloud environments.

Derived from NETSCOUT's expertise in network traffic analysis and deep packet inspection, KlearSight utilises eBPF technology to extract packets from within the Linux kernel, enhancing observability and expediting incident response. This capability supports understanding system behaviour and swiftly troubleshooting anomalies or unusual patterns.
